Аннотация
This book is a collection of writings about Byun Shiji, which are based on my meetings and conversations with him at his exhibitions and ateliers, as well as in various places on Jeju Island. It may seem a little unusual that such a book came from a person unfamiliar with the world of art. Nevertheless, these works represent a modest dedication to a great artist, as well as a line of research aimed at the artistic community, which is mired in far-fetched Western-style modernism and stubborn traditionalism. Pyun Shiji died in June 2013. It happened so unexpectedly for a man whose life has become a pilgrimage of a truly great artist, which began with receiving the highest award at an exhibition in Kofukai (Japanese) at the age of twenty-two, and reached important milestones, such as his decision to return to Korea after the Korean War and eventually settle on Jeju Island.
