Аннотация

In the book, the authors use a sociological approach to understand how power structures emerged after the collapse of the USSR. They note that independence in Central Asia did not come as a result of a nationalist struggle, but rather as a consequence of the dissolution of the USSR. Therefore, the same Soviet elites who had fought for power in the previous system continued to do so in the new system, adapting themselves and the system to their needs.
